The New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Primary Vetting Committee has cleared all ten candidates vying to lead the party into the 2024 elections.
The candidates are as follows: Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Mr. Kwadwo Poku
Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie, Joe Ghartey and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
This was stated in a statement issued by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.
According to Mr. Kodua’s statement, the Vetting Committee presented its report to the NPP’s National Council on Monday, July 10, 2023, in accordance with Article 10(3) of the New Patriotic Party’s Constitution.
He stated that the Party’s National Council will meet on July 20, 2023, to discuss the proposals of the Vetting Committee.
If more than five candidates qualify for the race, the party will have a special electoral college of 900 delegates to choose five candidates for the final round.
So far, all ten candidates have been cleared for the competition.
It means that the ruling party will have a special delegates meeting in August to choose five candidates to compete in the presidential primary on November 4, 2023.
