The headmaster of Adisadel College has published a statement in reaction to the release of a shocking video depicting a brutal assault on a student on school grounds.
In the viral video, one student is seen trapping the victim’s arms and slamming his face against a metal bed, causing profuse blood below the victim’s right eye.
The incident, which was made public by a viral video, aroused indignation and worry among parents, students, and the general public.
According to a brief statement reportedly coming from the school’s headmaster via the chairman of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), the incident occurred on June 30, but both the offender and the victim first kept it secret from authorities.
The statement disclosed that both the culprit responsible for the assault and the victim have been sent home, with the culprit expected to write his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) from the West African Examinations Council’s (WAEC) center.
Additionally, the housemaster and his deputy will be suspended immediately, pending the outcome of this video (act) by GES.
The student who recorded the disturbing incident will face a one-week external suspension and also face internal suspension for another week as a consequence of his involvement in the incident.
“The other students who were at the scene but did not intervene and also failed to report the incident will also face severe internal punishment.”
Meanwhile, parents and guardians are demanding an investigation into the incidents and assurances that such acts of violence would not be permitted in the future.
