President Nana Akufo-Addo has revoked the appointment of embattled Sarah Adwoa Safo, as Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Welfare.
According to a statement from the presidency signed by Eugene Arhin, director of communications, Adwoa Safo, who is also a member of parliament for Dome Kwabenya, had her appointment cancelled by the president in compliance with article 81 (a) of the constitution.
This comes after Parliament yesterday debated her continuous stay in the house after absenting herself for more than 15 sitting days without approval from the Speaker’s consent.
However, Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, postponed his decision regarding Adwoa Safo, for her absenteeism.
Mr. Bagbin stated that he required more time to submit a formal decision following a discussion on the report by the Privileges Committee.
In the statement, Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, will continue to serve as interim Minister for the Gender Ministry.
