Albert Kwabena Dwumfour has been on Friday, June 24, 2022, elected as the new president of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA).
He received 233 votes, representing 41.91 percent, to defeat his opponents Gayheart Mensah, who received 181 votes, representing 32.55 percent, and Dave Agbenu, who received 142 votes, representing 25.54 percent.
Mr. Dwumfour, also the Head of Corporate Affairs at Tobinco Group of Companies called upon his opponents to collaborate with him to transform the Association into a better one.
“I urge all supporters of my opponents to put their differences away and rally behind the newly elected executives for a prosperous GJA,” he added.
In the Organising Secretary race, Dominic Hlordzi of GTV defeated Mary Mensah, a Daily Graphic Editor and reporter for current Foreign and Supplements, with 300 to 255 votes.
Kofi Yeboah was re-elected as general secretary after defeating Akwasi Agyemang of Adom FM with 348 votes to 208 votes.
Rebecca Ekpe from the GBC defeated Caesar Abagali from the Ghana News Agency, Wa office in Public Affairs position.
Over 800 members of the Ghana Journalists Association in good standing were expected to cast their ballots on Friday to elect new national and regional executives for the association but a total of 559 turned up to vote
