Fred Nuamah, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon seat, has dropped out of the contest.
Nuamah stated in a letter to the party’s General Secretary that he made the personal choice following lengthy consultations with key stakeholders and without any external influences.
“I am writing to formally notify the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) about my decision to withdraw from the Ayawaso West-Wuogon NDC parliamentary primaries. This decision was personal and was made after extensive consultations with key stakeholders, without any external influence,” he said in the letter dated August 7.
Nuamah, a prominent actor and film producer, stated that he feels the NDC must present a united front in the 2024 general elections, thus the decision.
He stated that as a committed member of the party, he prioritises party unity and the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama initiative to save Ghana.
In light of his resignation, Nuamah has totally approved and backed his good friend, Mr. John Dumelo, as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency.
Nuamah urged all of his supporters in the constituency, at all levels of the party, to rally behind Dumelo and provide him with the necessary assistance.
He believes that by working together, with a revitalised feeling of unity, they can win the 2024 elections and take Ghana out of its current predicament.
Nuamah closed by thanking his many supporters at the branch, ward, and constituency levels for their unwavering support, devotion, and affection.
He said he treasures every moment of their encounters and admires their grassroots’ determination to see the NDC and former President John Mahama return political power and improve the lives of Ghanaians.
Dumelo, a well-known actor and television personality, contested in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency in the last general election.
Although the NDC has already its parliamentary primaries nationwide a few constituencies were put on hold including the Ayawaso West-Wuogon.
