The High Court has granted former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah’s plea for an expedited hearing in her case over the seizure of her money and the freezing of her bank accounts.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has filed an application with the court asking for authorization to continue seizing money seized at Cecilia Dapaah’s and her husband’s home, as well as blocking her bank accounts.
Ms. Dapaah then filed an application with the court requesting that the case be heard sooner.
The confiscation of the money and the freezing of her accounts, she claims, have caused and continue to cause her difficulty, worry, and shame.
The Judge agreed on Wednesday that any additional delay would be detrimental to the former Sanitation Minister and her husband’s well-being.
As a result, the case has been postponed from October 18 to tomorrow, October 12.
Meanwhile, the OSP and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States of America have launched parallel investigations into Ms Dapaah’s and her associates’ actions.
On Wednesday, the OSP stated on ‘X’ previously Twitter that “these investigations primarily focus on examining their assets and financial transactions within the United States of America.”
The coordinated endeavour, according to the OSP, aims to determine the legality of Ms. Dapaah and her associates’ wealth “both in the context of their funds transitioning from Ghana to the United States and vice versa.”
