Electricity Company of Ghana has announced its implementation of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) major tariff review, which will be effective from September 1, 2022.
In a statement dated August 30 and signed by the Managing Director, Samuel Dubik Mahama, Esq, the average percentage increase is on energy consumption only.
“Therefore the addition of statutory levies and other fixed charges will increase the average percentage announced by PURC,” the statement added.
ECG further stated that exclusive lifeline beneficiaries’ consumption has been pegged at 30kWh, according to the new bands for residential customers.
To assist, explain and reconcile any challenges, ECG has established customer help desks in all districts and customer service centers.
“ECG has catalogued all unit consumption and the expected cost in a ‘Reckoner’ which clearly explains how the tariff is applied and billed. This will be displayed at all our districts and customer service centers nationwide to guide customers on their electricity purchase,” it said.
It, therefore, assured customers and stakeholders of the commitment to ensure a smooth implementation of the new tariff.
