The government has announced Monday, April 24, 2023, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Fitr.
Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Saturday, April 22, 2023, as a Statutory Public Holiday.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, the President has designated Monday, April 24, 2023, as a public holiday by Executive Instrument (EI) and in compliance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (601).
Muslims believe the Holy Quran was revealed during Ramadan, and they fast and perform other rituals to draw closer to Allah during the month.
Eid-ul-Fitr is a religious holiday observed by Muslims around the world to mark the completion of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm).
The day commemorates the end of the 29 or 30 days of fasting from dawn to sunset.
