A fire that started early on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, severely destroyed portions of the Job 600 building in Parliament. The origin of the fire, which broke out in a storage, is yet unknown.
Thick smoke was visible from several offices as personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service worked to control the flames. Staff and workers in the building were promptly evacuated to safety while emergency services continued their efforts to extinguish the fire and investigate its origin.
Job 600, an annex to the Parliament Chamber commissioned by President Akufo-Addo in November 2020, is part of the Parliament House Physical infrastructural Enhancement Project, which aimed to remedy long-standing infrastructural challenges in Parliament.
