Former French ambassador Anne Sophie Avé has called on the government of Ghana to provide diplomatic passports to renowned Ghanaian singers in order to promote the country’s image on a worldwide scale.
Anne Sophie, who made significant contributions to Ghana’s creative sector throughout her tenure, highlighted Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, Shatta Wale, R2Bees, and King Promise as deserving the title in a tweet on Sunday, 30 July.
“Ghana, you should give these guys diplomatic passports: they put Ghana to the world better than even the best ambassadors could in a lifetime @Sarkodie, @stonebwoy, @blacksherif, @shattawalegh, @r2bees, and @IamKingPromise.”
Anne Sophie’s recent plea adds to past campaigning by various singers, including Sarkodie, requesting the government to enable diplomatic visas for performers because of the influence they have on presenting Ghana’s image overseas.
Notably, Anne Sophie Avé was instrumental in planning the 2022 ‘Accra In Paris’ event, which featured Ghanaian musical talent in the heart of France.
Sarkodie Stonebwoy and Kwabena Kwabena performed with their French counterparts Passi and Orti at the highly anticipated performance staged in Paris in April last year.
The event was a lively celebration of Ghanaian music, art, and legacy.
