Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the outgoing Trade Minister, has officially declared his intention to compete in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries when nominations open.
“I wish to use this platform to formally announce my decision to contest the flagbearership race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when the party officially opens nominations for that purpose,” Mr. Kyerematen said in a broadcast.
Mr. Kyerematen tendered his resignation letter on Thursday, January 5, 2023, a decision that some political analysts say will give him enough time to focus on his campaign.
He stated that the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been a long-time friend of his and that his resignation from his cabinet will not end their friendship
“His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been my good friend for a very long time and will always remain so. Based on our shared commitments, the ideals and principles that inspired the founding fathers of the NPP, we have competed in the past but have always worked together thereafter.”
“The President has laid a strong foundation for the social-economic development of our country, although I believe there are things that could have been done differently,” the presidential hopeful stated.
The former Trade Minister intended to lay a solid foundation for the country’s prosperity.
The former Trade Minister envisaged to build a strong foundation that will bring prosperity to the country.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, has attacked former Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, claiming that he has already lost his bid to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.
Mr. Kyerematen, according to Sammy Gyamfi, performed abysmally as Trade Minister and is thus unfit for the flagbearer position.
The NDC Communication Officer, speaking on Accra-based radio Asempa FM, said he would be surprised if Mr. Kyerematen wins the NPP’s presidential primaries to lead the party into the 2024 elections.
