Sophia Akuffo, a former Chief Justice, has reacted angrily to New Patriotic Party stalwart Gabby Asare Otchere- Darko’s criticism of her decision to picket at the Ministry of Finance.
Mr Otchere-Darko chastised Sophia Akuffo on Sunday for joining pensioner bondholders in a picket line demanding that their funds be completely removed from the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme.
Mr. Otchere-Darko, a cousin of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, said in a tweet that while he sympathizes with those picketing, he doesn’t understand why they want “to be exempted from an improved offer program that is voluntary.”
“Why picket over an offer that you have the liberty not to accept?” he quizzed.
According to him, the former Chief Justice erred significantly in her fundamental understanding of the issues.
In response, the former Chief Justice, who returned to join the picketers on Tuesday, called Mr. Otchere-Darko a “disturbance” and stated that his opinions are irrelevant to her.
“He doesn’t decide for me what I need to do and what I don’t need to do, I don’t have time for things like that. People like that aren’t important to me or my life, and he’s a disturbance, that is all that I need to say to that,” she added.
