The Health Minister today at a Press briefing disclosed that the country’s case count for covid-19 stood at 195. Kwaku Agyeman- Manu did not provide further details on new cases but stated that death toll still remains five. Seven more Covid- 19 patients have been discharged, bringing the total number of discharged persons to 38.
The Health Minister also stated that in Accra, the process of contact tracing has so far reached 635 people. Out of that number, 589 samples have taken and sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) for testing.
In the Ashanti region, he said a 40- member team has been deployed to undertake surveillance. 160 persons have so far been reached, and 22 samples taken for testing.
Mr Agyeman-Manu also disclosed that the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has also commenced testing. The move is in line with government’s efforts to establish more testing centres across the country.
