Gold Fields Damang Mine has presented second batch of PPEs to the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly to help in the fight against COVID-19.
The items donated included 21, 450 pairs of hand gloves, 5,408 surgical mask, 5,832 N95 nose mask, 90 goggles and 40 thermometre guns, among others.
This is the second time the Damang Mine is donating to the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality as part of the company’s contribution towards the fight against COVID-19.
Making the presentation, the Manager of Sustainable Development Projects for Goldfields, Mr Razack Yakubu said the company has spent 108, 000 dollars on both donations to the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Dr. Isaac Dasmani thanked the company for the kind gesture. He noted that the assembly will establish a COVID-19 fund for the municipality which will solicit for funds to fight the pandemic.
The Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Health Director, Mr Emmanuel Kofi Tamakloe expressed his appreciation to the mine for the continuous support to the municipality. He was hopeful that these items will go along way to help the health directorate as the municipality has recorded over 30 COVID-19 cases.
