The Ghana Revenue Authority Board has been disbanded. By the end of the day, President Akufo-Addo is scheduled to announce the appointment of a new Board.
Though no reason was offered for the collapse of the Dr. Anthony Oteng-Gyasi-led Board, rumours suggest there have been some issues recently.
The President’s intervention comes only days after New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia accused GRA of pestering companies for taxes owing to unrealistic expectations.
Dr. Anthony Oteng-Gyasi chaired the dissolved GRA Board, which also included Mr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, Mad. Adelaide Ahwireng, Prof. Peter Ohene Kyei, Mr. Kwabena Boateng, Mrs. Dela Obeng-Sakyi, Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari, and Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei.

Sources within the GRA admit hearing the reports but find it impossible to corroborate because no official statement has been issued.
Many employees at the GRA office doubt the news’s veracity. While others indicate that the GRA chief was in the workplace on Tuesday, he was not spotted on Wednesday, March 27.
In December 2023, a group calling itself Concerned Citizens of Ghana threatened a series of protests over Dr. Ammishaddai’s and Deputy Commissioner Julie Essiam’s continued tenure in office.
In January 2024, Sam George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, proposed on Parliament to declare the Commissioner-General a persona non grata since he had stayed over the required 60 years, implying that he had no contract with the state.
