Chris Hughton, Black Stars Coach, says his goal is to translate his expertise throughout the years into constructing a successful team for Ghana’s Senior National Team.
Speaking to the media during his formal introduction on Monday, March 20, at the SG Mall in Kumasi, Ashanti region, the former Brighton manager said he will develop the players at his disposal and establish a winning mindset to assist achieve some success.
“There will be questions, why is this player playing and why is that player playing, but ultimately I want to see a winning team and…using the players to the best of their abilities,” Chris Hughton said.
The former Newcastle manager also stated that his status and credentials at the top level of football management have prepared him with the necessary abilities and knowledge for the job with the Black Stars.
“My standing and credentials at this level I think that is good. I have a lot of experience as a head coach and I will use that experience to pick the team, pick the players and adjust to less training and preparation time for a game.”
The former Black Stars Technical Director also pledged to pay more attention to the local league and uncover players that match his footballing style.
He did, however, describe Ghana’s World Cup campaign in 2022 as dismal. The setback to Uruguay, which he feels the Black Stars should have won, was his biggest disappointment.
The 64-year-old has been awarded a 21-month contract that is subject to renewal based on performance.
