The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has left Accra for Nairobi, Kenya, to represent Ghana at the inauguration of William Samoei Arap Ruto, Kenya’s President-elect.
William Ruto served as Vice President of the Republic of Kenya until his election on August 15.
Vice President Bawumia is scheduled to return to Accra on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
He was accompanied by the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Thomas Mbomba, and other senior government officials.
Kenyan officials announced that at least 20 heads of state and 2,500 VIPs have confirmed their presence at President-elect William Ruto’s inauguration event.
At least 60,000 Kenyans will be permitted into the stadium to witness the President-elect and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua’s inauguration.
The President-elect will assume office by taking and subscribing to the oath of affirmation of allegiance, and the oath or affirmation for the execution of the functions of office, as prescribed in the Third Schedule.
The Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi will administer the oath of office, which will be witnessed by Chief Justice Martha Koome.
