President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Kumawu constituents to cast their ballots for the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate in Tuesday’s by-election.
The two main political parties, the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are vying for the seat.
With the highly anticipated by-election in Kumawu about to take place in just 24 hours, prominent NPP and NDC officials have increased their efforts to ensure their candidate gets the seat.
While former President John Dramani Mahama is arguing for the NDC, President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are persuading delegates to vote for their party’s nominee.
The race’s two independent contenders have also pledged to trigger an upset.
On Sunday, May 21, 2023, the mood in Kumawu was extremely tense as the NPP held a big rally.
The President, who supported Ernest Yaw Anim, urged residents to vote for him during the NPP’s last rally in the constituency on Sunday, May 21.
“Philip Basoah’s replacement is handsome, humble, and kind-hearted, and he is ready to serve you. He has brought together all of the party’s members in this district. Ernest Yaw Anim is qualified for the position. He’s number one on the ballot; put your thumb where you see him because we don’t want any fraudulent candidates.”
The Vice President, on his part, praised the NPP’s accomplishments and reminded constituents of the projects they would miss if they voted for the NDC’s nominee.
“Vote for the NPP’s parliamentary candidate to bring development to the constituency. The NDC should be aware that the dumsor period has not been forgotten. “Do you want us to go through dumsor again?” he inquired.
Ernest Yaw Anim, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Kumawu, also asked residents to avoid complacency and vote massively for him in order to achieve a resounding win.
“Let’s all go out in large numbers and vote for me to win,” he implored.
