The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has voiced its displeasure with the lengthy delay in the distribution of food to Senior High Schools across the students.
CHASS is proposing that Senior High Schools be allowed to purchase their own meals for their pupils.
Reverend Steven Owusu Sekyere, President of CHASS, stated during the 61st National Annual Conference that CHASS must have a voice in the food products provided to schools.
He hinted that enabling schools to buy their own food will help address the logistical and operational issues that frequently afflict food delivery to the many SHSs around the country.
“We are urging management to ensure the timely release of all school funding to make our jobs easier, and funds allocated for all activities must be significantly increased to meet current market prices for goods and services.” This will assist us in providing our pupils with the resources they demand for their educational needs,” he stated.
“CHASS also wishes to strongly urge management to allow the various schools to obtain food items to feed the students.” This has been our unwavering request for years, owing to the way some suppliers occasionally fail to deliver certain food items on schedule. We are certain that obtaining food goods on our own will minimise costs.
