The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful, Mr. Alan Kyerematen has urged party members to fight against the dangerous trend in politics in Ghana, of using misinformation and propaganda in instigating disunity along ethnic, religious, and political lines.
In a statement, Mr. Kyerematen who is currently the Minister for Trade and Industry stated that any acts or omissions of any individuals or groups of individuals may disturb the peace and harmony in our party.
This comes after a member of the NPP, Hopeson Adorye in a health walk which was organised in Kumasi in his name made a public comment that the vice-presidential slot of the party is an automatic slot for the Northerners in the NPP while that of the presidential slot is between that Danquah and Busia lineage.
These comments ignited condemnation, an explanation, and an apology by some party members.
Mr. Kyerematen, therefore, urged NPP members not to disturb the harmony within the party.
“I encourage Party faithful to be vigilant and consistent in protecting this cherished unity, that has made our great party a beacon of hope to the people of Ghana, over the past 30 years,” he added.
