The newly sworn in Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Honourable Benjamin Kesse has refuted allegations that his confirmation was done without recourse to laid down processes.
The embattled MCE denied the allegations that some twenty-two assembly members were denied access to the confirmation grounds, and said those denied were not assembly members but rather stalwarts of the National Democratic Congress in the region.
In a interview with Daniel Dadzie on the Joy Weekend news yesterday and monitored by the KwesimintsimObserver, the embattled MCE said “As for me the processes used in my confirmation were legitimate, and I cannot decide whether some persons want to go to court or not. The persons who were denied access to the confirmation grounds were not assembly members, but stalwarts of the National Democratic Congress who came over to try and disrupt the confirmation process. But they were prevented by the security services detailed for the programme”.
Two -twenty(22) assembly members from the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality have since started a court process to nullify the confirmation of Bejamin Kesse, while the Chamber of the Local Assemblies Association of Ghana (CHLAG) and Mr. Oppong-Fosu, a former local goverment minister under the erstwhile NDC adminstration have since impressed on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to revoke his appointment, as they claim it was not done in accordance with the standing orders of the assembly.
