Yaw Adutwum, the Education Minister, has urged all parents who have yet to purchase items from the prospectus for their children to do so.
Dr. Adutwum stated at a press conference on Tuesday that students cannot be denied access to education because they are unable to purchase items on a school prospectus.
He urged all headmasters to allow students who were correctly assigned to various Senior High Schools access to academic work.
“I want to tell all parents to take their children to school. If you don’t have all the items on the prospectus, the headmasters can’t stop you from going to school. So parents send your children to school.”
This year, the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training Service (GTVETS) placed a total of 372,780 candidates, representing 69.24 percent of the 538,399 candidates who qualified for placement.
However, 165, 619 qualified candidates (30.76%) who could not be matched with any of their choices had to use Self-Placement to choose from available schools.
