Former President John Dramani Mahama has slammed Akufo- Addo’s administration for worsening the country’s poverty levels.
Former President Mahama stated during the launch of his 2024 presidential campaign at the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho, Volta Region, that the NPP government’s “cluelessness and the harrowing dismantling of our progress has damaged and killed many bright dreams of the country.”
He claimed that the current government was not only clueless, but also reckless and made incorrect judgments, and then denied responsibility for the harm caused.
“This government has been clueless and in many ways, callous. We are saddled with debt and we have been downgraded by every rating agency and inflation has gone off the roof sending people into abject poverty,” Mr. Mahama told a crowd at the Cedi Auditorium.
He also criticized the government’s domestic restructuring program, which he claimed has the potential to wipe out the middle class’s wealth.
“Our middle class also risks being wiped out due to a reckless debt restructuring programme. Who would have thought Ghana would have come to a juncture like this when our economy has been destroyed by the incompetent Akufo-Addo and his vice Bawumia?”
Mr. Mahama went on to criticise the government’s arrogance for dumping the country into an economic mess by refusing to swallow its pride and accept responsibility for its failings.
