Seven persons have been hospitalised after being shot at Kadjebi in the Oti Region
The victims are said to have been shot at the final funeral rituals of Richard Kwame Osafo Gyapong, a youth leader from the Kadjebi Traditional Area, on November 3.
The perpetrator(s) are still unknown.
Some people suspected the perpetrator belonged to an Asafo gang from Jasikan, implying that the crime was unintentional.
Moses Agbanaglo, 51, a farmer; Kwadzo Norsi, 46, a mason; Shiabu Razak, 38, a motorcyclist; and Tutu Gyapong, 34, have been named as the injured. The identity of the remaining three victims is unknown at this time.
Agbanaglo, one of the victims, claimed he was standing nearby when he noticed he had been shot in the chest and leg.
Agbanaglo thinks he knows who the culprit is.
Norsi, who was shot in the abdomen and arm, said he was also injured by a bullet while standing on the burial grounds.
According to Asaase News, the victims are in stable condition, with the exception of two who are in severe condition.
According to police sources, the event has been confirmed and investigations are presently continuing.
The victims are now being treated at the St. Mary Theresa Hospital in Dodi Papase.
Meanwhile, the dead, Richard Kwame Gyapong, is claimed to be the brother of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Oti regional chairman, John Kwadwo Gyapong.
Residents are urging police and officials to conduct an investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
