The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) celebrated its tenth anniversary on Saturday in Elmina, Central Region, with a pledge to end the duopoly of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Brigitte Dzogbenuku, the PPP’s 2020 presidential candidate, pledged while speaking to party members gathered at Elmina’s Kobina Gyan Square to commemorate the event.
“If you are one of those who realises that we need a third force, let me tell you, we are the third force we need. We have tried the other two – we don’t like the turn of events. Now the PPP has come of age,” she said.
The PPP, according to the 2020 presidential candidate, is the only party committed to bringing governance to the people’s doorstep by allowing them to vote for their particular metropolitan municipal and district chief administrators (MMDCEs).
Furthermore, she noted that the PPP was the only party that believed in constitutional review and change to give good governance more meaning.
“If the PPP was voted into power in 2024, it would tackle head-on issues concerning youth unemployment, social development, and road infrastructure.”
Ms. Dzogbenuku stated that the party is ready to assure policy implementation, noting that “this is better than empty party sloganeering, personal profit and political expediency.”
In his remarks, the Party’s Chairman, Nana Ofori Owusu, stated that it was time for all party members to put their ‘hands on the wheel’ and make the PPP the third force that the country was seeking.
Nana Owusu urged Ghanaians to renew their faith and commit to bringing the PPP to power.
“The path had not been easy, but that with determination, it will be successful”, he added.
