The Church of Pentecost, together with its numerous districts, areas, and ministries in Ghana, spent GHC10,686,084.76 to finance the educational aspirations of Church members at various levels.
This sum comprised GHC863,443.64 spent under the headquarters’ sponsored’ Pentecost Education Scholarship Scheme’ (PESS) for additional tertiary students,” disclosed Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Church’s chairman.
Apostle Nyamekye stated this in his 2022 State-of-the-Church Address (SOCA22), which he delivered at the opening ceremony of the 46th General Council Meetings on Wednesday, 3 May 2023.
“It is worth noting that the Headquarters has spent a total of GHS1,625,417.02 on educational support under the Pentecost Education Scholarship Scheme over the past four years, since the inception of the Vision 2023 agenda,” he stated.
“For the past four years, educational support from various Assemblies, Districts, Areas, and Ministries in Ghana amounted to GHC 23,313,518.93,” Apostle Nyamekye stated.
The chairman stated that 107 educational institutions had been established in Ghana through the Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS), the church’s social services arm, in consultation with the various areas of the church, including 103 basic schools, two (2) senior high schools, and two (2) vocational training institutes.
He went on to say that the total enrolment in these schools was 35,486 pupils (boys: 16,924 and girls: 18,544), with 2,184 employees (both teaching and administrative) working to help run and manage the schools.
The chairman’s State-of-the-Church presentation delivers a report on the Church’s Vision 2023 programme of “Possessing the Nations,” as well as any noteworthy changes that occurred in a given reporting year.
