Two Ada Senior High School (SHS) students from the Greater Accra region have perished in the Volta River.
The incident occurred on November 5, 2023.
The unidentified kids are said to be between the ages of 16 and 18 and are accused of leaving the school without permission to swim in the Volta River near the institution.
According to information acquired by Citi News, when locals nearby spotted them, they rushed to their aid but were too late to save the students.
However, according to an eyewitness, these youngsters had gone to the river to gather water due to water scarcity at the school.
“The school authorities came yesterday and they went and reported it to the Ada police station so they have taken them to the district hospital,” he went on to say.
Meanwhile, authorities have initiated an investigation into the two students’ drowning.
