Officials have confirmed that two earth tremors were recorded in Ghana’s capital, Accra, on Monday (12 December) around midday.
The tremors were described as moderate, with a magnitude of 4.0.
The tremors were felt in Santa Maria, Sowutuom, Adabraka, Gbawe, McCarthy Hill, Osu Ako Adjei, and Mallam.
The epicenter was located in the western part of Accra, 10-km from Gbawe, reports the state-owned Daily Graphic.
The first one occurred at 6:53 AM in Accra’s western region.
The seismic movement in Ghana was one of the strongest ones, with a magnitude of 4.0, according to the Android Earthquake Alerts System.
According to the Daily Graphic, the Ghana Geological Survey Department (GSSD) has sent a group of specialists to the epicenter to gather data.
