Under the Youth Employment Agency’s (YEA) community police module, 734 young people will go through a 10-day intensive training at the regional Police Training School in Ho.
The Youth in Community and Security module of the YEA selected the beneficiaries from various districts in the Volta, Oti, and Eastern Regions of the country.
Speaking to the media, Emmanuel Quarshie, the Volta Regional Director of the YEA, stated that 15,000 interested individuals will be trained nationwide to assist substantive police officers in Ghana.
He stated that the program is part of the government’s efforts to reduce and eliminate youth unemployment, adding that “the majority of them will be absorbed into the police service” and advising the beneficiaries to conduct themselves professionally.
The school’s commander, ACP William Y Acolatse, urged the beneficiaries to live above reproach.
DCOP Andrews Boadu Ekumah, the Volta regional police commander, for his part, warned the beneficiaries to be on their best behaviour throughout the training.
In total, 180 people were chosen from Oti, 139 from Volta, and 415 from the Eastern Region.
