The Western Regional Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) coordinator, Fabiola Tizala, has provided the Ghana Health Service with 70 adult weighing scales.
The move is intended to help with healthcare services in the Western Region.
She was able to rally friends and family members to purchase these products for GHC7,000.
After noticing their absence during CHPS facility visits, the health planner and businesswoman Fabiola purchased products to support Ghana Health Service.
Fabiola goes on to say, “So on our various monitoring visits, there has been a lot of challenges, but amongst them is the equipment challenge, which weighing scale is part.”
Recognising the crucial need for weighing scales in most CHPS facilities, she took the initiative to fill the void. Despite its importance, the item was frequently ignored, creating substantial disruptions in the facilities’ operations.
She researched and found the essential resources to bridge the gap with a strong eye for detail and a commitment to expanding healthcare access.
“I spoke with a few of my friends to help me buy these scales when I was ordering my items for sale, and thankfully I had positive feedback from some of them, and the rest is what we’re seeing”, Tizala went on to say.
During a three-day working visit to the region, Dr Anthony Adofo Fosu, deputy director general, praised the CEO of Chabby’s goods, a retailer of home goods, beddings, fragrances, sofa covers, and kitchen appliances, for his outstanding initiative.
Dr. Fosu also encouraged others to repeat his thoughtful gesture.
The supplies are available for collection at the Western Regional Medical Stores.
