The CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Kofi Baah Agyepong, has engaged the leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) on the agency’s community health workers (CHW) module.
At the meeting, the management of YEA clarified the misconception that beneficiaries of the YEA CHW module were being recruited as substitutes for the qualified health professionals awaiting their postings from the Ghana Health Service.
Mr. Agyepong explained to the leadership of GRNMA that the agency was in no way employing SHS graduates to take their jobs and that the beneficiaries of the YEA CHW module will have no interactions with patients nor perform any responsibilities within the domain of health professionals. He gave assurance to the GRNMA and Nurse Assistants Preventive and Nurse Assistants Control (NAPNAC) that the agency will continue to dialogue in order to incorporate their professional views in any health-related module they will roll out In attendance were the Nurse Assistants Preventive and Nurse Assistants Control on the Youth Employment Agency’s Community Health Workers Module.

The YEA administration highlighted during the conference that beneficiaries of the YEA CHW module were not being recruited as substitutes for trained health professionals awaiting postings from the Ghana Health Service.
Agyepong clarified to GRNMA leadership that the agency was not hiring SHS graduates to take their jobs and that the beneficiaries of the YEA CHW module will have no interactions with patients or execute any obligations within the domain of health professionals.
He assured the GRNMA and the Nurse Assistants Preventive and Control (NAPNAC) that the agency will continue to consult with them in order to incorporate their professional perspectives in any health-related module that will be implemented.
